Andrea studied composition at York and then Salford Universities with composers including Peter Graham & Alan Williams. Her first commercial success was the xylophone solo; Fling, which she has performed for a number of years with several bands including YBS and the Black Dyke Band. Published by Obrasso, Fling is now a popular repertoire piece for tuned percussionists.
Andrea has since been commissioned to write a variety of solo works with brass band and/or piano including pieces for Sheona White and Brett Baker. She has also had a number of concert works performed by several bands including the Black Dyke Band.
As well as being a world class percussionist, Andrea is passionate about teaching and writes regularly for a wide variety of school ensembles. Her compositions and arrangements for choir, flexible band and school brass & wind bands will be available soon from Yewden Music.
While studying at Salford University, Dan received his first commercial success when he was commissioned to arrange That’ll Do for the Black Dyke Band. Since then, Dan has had test pieces selected for contests including the Swiss Nationals and the UK regional champonships.
In 2009 Dan became associated with the Cory Band, helping produce their winning programme at the Brass In Concert contest and has continued to write original works and arrangements for the band ever since.
In 2012 Dan became the Arranger in Association with the Black Dyke Band and has been involved with many of the band's exciting projects including a collaboration with British composer Tolga Kashif for his 2012 Olympic Anthem Let Your Light Shine.
Dan lives and works in East Lancashire as a freelance composer, and his portfolio now includes music for concert band, choir, and collaborative projects.
